Amusement Park Rides and Sites Targeting Children

Sesame Place offers popular sights and sounds that help parents connect with their children and have good family fun.

Sesame Place is located at 100 Sesame Road in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The park is about 20 minutes North of Center City Philadelphia and a half hour drive from the Philadelphia International Airport. Open from May through October, the amusement park offers rides, food, programs and souvenirs that both children and adults can enjoy.

Attractions Near Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

The park is within walking distance of major restaurants like the Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Michael’s and name brand fast food eateries. Less than two blocks from the amusement park is the Oxford Valley Mall. Hotels and other business establishments are within a five minutes drive from the park.

Popular dry attractions and rides at Sesame Place include Big Bird’s Ballroom Race, 1-2-3 Smile With Me, Elmo’s World, Big Bird Balloon Race, Cookie Mountain, Grover’s World Twirl, Sesame Neighborhood and Silly Sand Slide. Most of the rides are large enough so that parents can accompany their children. At 1-2-3 Smile With Me, children can meet and greet their favorite Sesame Street Muppet characters like Big Bird and Elmo.

Big Bird’s Balloon Race takes children and adults 40-feet into the air on a colorful tower ride. Each car can seat as many as four riders. Children can select a car designed with the image of their favorite cartoon character from the popular television show to ride in.

Elmo and Big Bird at Sesame Place

Elmo’s World includes a spin and slide ride designed on the back of a beaming bug. The ride is located in the garden where Elmo lives. Blasts off is also located in Elmo’s World. The ride takes children and adults through the air on a long seat secured with a rubber bar. Children shorter than 42 inches in height must be supervised by someone at least 14 years of age before they can board the ride.

Children and adults who are looking to get wet while they have fun at Sesame Place, should head to the water park. Bring swimsuits for the water slide and other wet rides. During hot summer months, be prepared to wait in line to get on popular rides as park visitors seek cooling comfort on the fun rides.

Big Bird’s Rambling River let’s riders float down a 1,000 foot waterway through rustling water, spraying geysers and waterfalls while they sit on colorful inner tubes. The Count’s Splash Castle is Sesame Place’s largest water attraction to date. This area takes the park’s visitors through 1,000 gallon tipping bucket, water slides and water curtains, hose jets and hydro blasters.

Amusement Park Wet Fun for Children and Adults

Rubber Duckie Pond is designed for children who are five years old or younger. Children can sit in shallow pools of water and have fun splashing and playing with siblings, friends and their parents. Teeny Tiny Tidal Wave is another ride that is designed for young and small children.

Besides the numerous rides at Sesame Place, the amusement park in Langhorne, Pennsylvania offers live performances by famous Sesame Street characters like Abby Cadabby, Rosita, Grover and Oscar. Rock Around the Block Parade lets children and their parents or guardians greet or walk hand in hand down the walkway next to their favorite Sesame Street muppet character.

Throughout the year Sesame Place celebrates children and adults of all ages. September 13, 2009 the park held its Grandparents and Me lunch so that children could express their appreciation for more mature guardians and caretakers in their lives. Parents can bring strollers to the park. They can also rent the equipment once they arrive at Sesame Place. An outdoor dining area is located at the back of the park beneath a welcoming shade.
