Ski NH Announces Two Programs to Encourage Families to Get Outdoors This Winter Season to Enjoy the Granite State's Top Mountain Resorts

New Hampshire ski resorts are gearing up for the season and offering a slew of early season discounts and package deals. But, you can’t beat free (or nearly free)! If you have a fourth or fifth grade student in the house, or know of one, be sure to check out these two new programs offered at New Hampshire ski resorts.

Ski NH Offers Fourth Graders Earn Your Turns Program

Fourth grade students throughout New England can earn a book of free lift tickets to use at 36 New Hampshire ski resorts. It’s simple. All they have to do is research some aspect of the history of skiing in New Hampshire and complete a project on it. The project can be almost anything, from writing an essay to building a model, producing a video, or conducting an interview. Kids are encouraged to use their imagination and the Ski NH website provides lots of suggested topics and guidelines. The program, designed to encourage kids to exercise and enjoy New Hampshire’s winter sports, is sponsored by Ski NH.

“These programs serve as an excellent tool to encourage kids and their families to get off the couch and out of the house to enjoy a healthy outdoor activity on New Hampshire’s mountains,” says Karl Stone, marketing director for Ski NH.

After the project is completed, the student gets an approval from his or her teacher, who then submits the student's name to Ski NH. Ski NH sends the qualified fourth grade students Earn Your Turns passbooks.

The passbook contains lift tickets and trail passes to 36 Ski NH resorts; you can find links to member resorts on their websites), as well as savings on lift tickets and trail passes for parents and siblings, rental packages, lessons and more.

In addition, Ski NH provides downloadable Parent and Teacher Guides to the program.

Fifth Grade Snowsports Passport

Fifth graders across New England can ski for free—at least once—at 36 New Hampshire ski resorts this season. The Earn Your Turns passbook is sponsored by Ski NH, with 36 members across the state. Every downhill and cross country ski area is contributing at least one free lift ticket, and many of them are contributing two or three free lift tickets for fifth graders. The are no blackout dates and the passport also includes additional discounts on lessons, rentals, and other lift tickets and trail passes.

Getting a Snowsports Passport is pretty easy, too. Students just need to fill out an application (forms are available on the Ski NH website), mail it to Ski NH, along with a copy of their fifth grade report card and a check for $20 to cover postage and handling. Ski NH will also be donating $5 from each Snowsports Passport to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire.

With these unique, wallet-pleasing promotions, young skiers across New England, and their families can afford to get out on New Hampshire slopes this winter season. “New Hampshire ski areas offer these programs as a way to introduce kids to skiing and riding sho otherwise may not have the opportunity,” says Stone.
